As students head back to school, Middletown Township wants to help families have a safe and successful start to the new year.

Here are some key tips to keep in mind:

Stop for the Bus. It’s PA State Law.

  • Beginning August 27, all Neshaminy School District buses have been equipped with cameras through a new school bus safety enforcement program. Drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus will face a $300 fine.

  • Know what yellow and red flashing lights mean — and when the law requires you to stop. These rules aren’t optional. They save lives.

  • The Middletown Township Police Department, along with the five other departments serving the district, will review violations and hold unsafe drivers accountable. Together, we’re committed to protecting students across Neshaminy School District.

Traffic & Pedestrian Safety

  • Drivers: Slow down in school zones, watch for crossing guards, and be alert for students walking or biking.

  • Students: Always use crosswalks, sidewalks, and follow crossing guard instructions.

Morning & After-School Routines

  • Plan ahead with packed lunches, organized backpacks, and clear schedules to reduce morning stress.

  • Establish a consistent routine for homework, meals, and bedtime.

Health & Wellness

  • Encourage adequate sleep each night.

  • Pack healthy snacks and lunches, and remind kids to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Stay Informed

  • Know school contacts, bus schedules, and emergency communication channels.

  • Check school and township updates regularly to stay aware of delays or safety alerts.

Following these tips can help make the school year safe, smooth, and successful for everyone in our community.
