Middletown Township Observes Juneteenth – Municipal Building Closed June 19
Middletown Township will join communities across the nation in observing Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19, 2025. In recognition of this important holiday, the Municipal Center will be closed for the day.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom—more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate African American culture and achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to equality and justice for all.
Normal business hours will resume on Friday, June 20.
