Middletown Township Police Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Department has a current authorized strength of 58 full-time sworn officers, 6 full-time civilian support staff, and 4 part-time civilian support staff.
The Department is organized into a Patrol Division, Administrative Division, and a Criminal Investigations Division. There are several specialty units within the Department including K-9, Traffic Safety, ATV Unit, Honor Guard, Motor Unit, Firearms Training and members of the S.E.R.T. team.
During the last ten years, the Department answered an average of approximately 20,000 calls annually for service. In 2017, the Department responded to 16,196 calls and investigated 1,748 motor vehicle accidents.
Middletown Township Police Department is one of 111 accredited Pennsylvania departments by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police. The department attained this status in December of 2008.
The motto "To Safeguard, Protect and Serve" essentially states the purpose of the Middletown Township Police Department. The Department safeguards lives and property, protects the right of all persons within its jurisdiction to be free from violence and criminal attack, to be secure in their possessions, and to live in peace and tranquility. The Department serves the citizens of Middletown Township by discharging the law enforcement function in a professional manner and it is to these people that the Department is ultimately responsible.
