Frequently Asked Questions
How do I dispose of a TV or computer?
On January 24, 2013, a disposal ban on “covered” electronic devices went into effect in Pennsylvania. Covered devices include: desktop computers, laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals, and televisions. These items may not be put curbside for collection with regular trash. They must be taken to an electronics recycling facility. Click here for a list of recycling facilities in the Lower Bucks County area.
How do I dispose of a refrigerator or freezer?
Remove doors, drawers, and shelving and place out with regular trash on second trash collection day of the week. Call Waste Management at 215-788-5555 to schedule main part of refrigerator or freezer for a special pickup. Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and other Freon-containing appliances are also collected by Waste Management by appointment only.
What are the rules for bulk pickup?
One bulk item may be placed at the curb per week with regular trash. Furniture and non-Freon-containing appliances would be considered as bulk.
My house was skipped today. Whom should I call?
You should call the Community Services Office at 215-750-3800, extension 145
How do I dispose of paint?
Latex (water-based) paint may be placed at the curb for regular trash collection. Allow the unused paint to dry out or mix with an absorbent (e.g., kitty litter) to prevent it from spilling on the street during collection. Paint cans must be placed at the curb with lids off. Oil-based paint is hazardous waste and must be taken to Bucks County’s Household Hazardous Waste Program which occurs on one Saturday a month, at a different location in the County, from April through September.
Do I purchase a recycle container from the Township?
The Township no longer sells containers for recycling. Residents should use a regular 35-gallon trash container (nothing larger), and the Township can provide labels that can be applied to the container to identify it as recyclables.
How do I dispose of carpeting?
Carpeting must be bundled in four-foot lengths (or less). The bundles may not weigh more than 50 lbs. There is a 10-container limit of trash per collection day, and each bundle of carpeting is considered a container.
I am a new resident. How do I arrange for trash collection?
Since some developments in the Township do not receive trash collection under Middletown’s contract with Waste Management, it is best to contact the Community Services office at 215-750-3800, extension 145
